By using Jagrati, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to provide you with the best experience. Here's a detailed breakdown:
What we collect: Profile photos captured through your device camera, along with facial recognition data used for attendance tracking.
How we store it: Images are securely stored on ImageKit's cloud infrastructure with enterprise-grade security. Facial data is processed and stored in our secure backend servers.
Why we collect it: To enable automated attendance marking, display your profile within the app, and facilitate student/volunteer identification.
Your control: You can update or delete your profile photo anytime through the app settings. When you delete a photo, it is permanently removed from ImageKit servers within 24 hours.
What we collect: Your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account when you sign in using Google Sign-In.
Why we collect it: For secure authentication and to create your user profile in the app.
How we use it: This information is used solely for account verification and login purposes. We do not access any other Google account data.
Third-party service: Google Sign-In is provided by Google LLC and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
What we collect:
- Device model, manufacturer, and operating system version
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token for push notifications
- App version and build information
- Crash logs and performance data (via Firebase Crashlytics)
Why we collect it: To send you important notifications about attendance, events, and updates; to diagnose and fix technical issues; and to improve app performance.
Note: We do not track your location or access any personal files on your device.
What we collect:
- Full name, date of birth, gender
- Contact information (phone number, email, address)
- Educational details (roll number, batch, branch, year of study, college)
- Parent/guardian information (for students)
- Village and group assignments
Why we collect it: To maintain accurate records, facilitate communication, organize groups and batches, and generate attendance reports.
How long we keep it: Your registration data is retained as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, all personal information is permanently removed from our servers.
What we collect: Date, time, and location of attendance marking; associated photos from attendance sessions.
Why we collect it: To maintain accurate attendance records, generate reports, and provide historical data for analysis.
Retention period: Attendance records are retained for administrative and reporting purposes. When you delete your account, all associated attendance data is permanently deleted.
What we collect: Form data that you haven't submitted yet (stored locally on your device using DataStore preferences).
Why we collect it: To allow you to continue where you left off if you exit a registration form before completing it.
Storage: Draft data is stored locally on your device and is automatically deleted once you successfully submit the form.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Authentication & Account Management: To verify your identity, manage your account, and provide secure access to the app.
- Attendance Tracking: To mark, record, and manage attendance using facial recognition and manual methods.
- Communication: To send you notifications about attendance, events, updates, and important announcements.
- Reporting & Analytics: To generate attendance reports, track participation, and provide insights to administrators.
- App Improvement: To diagnose issues, fix bugs, and enhance app performance and user experience.
- Support: To respond to your queries, feedback, and support requests.
3. Permissions We Require
Required for capturing profile photos, taking attendance photos, and facial recognition.
When it's used: Only when you explicitly tap the camera button to take a photo. The camera is never accessed in the background.
You can revoke: This permission can be revoked anytime through your device settings.
Required to send you push notifications about attendance, events, and important updates.
You can control: You can disable notifications anytime through app settings or device settings.
May be required on older Android versions to save photos and reports.
How it's used: Only to save files you explicitly choose to download or export.
4. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services
We value your privacy and do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. However, we use the following trusted third-party services to operate the app:
Third-Party Services
- Google Sign-In: For secure authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): For push notifications. Subject to Firebase Privacy Policy.

6. Your Rights & Control
You have complete control over your data. Here's what you can do:
Access & Update
- View and edit your profile information anytime through the app.
- Update your profile photo, contact details, and other personal information.
Delete Data
- Profile Photo: Delete or change your profile photo anytime. Old photos are permanently removed from ImageKit servers.
- Account Deletion: Request complete account deletion through Settings → Account → Delete Account. This will permanently delete:
- Your profile and personal information
- All photos and facial recognition data
- Attendance records associated with your account
- All other data linked to your account
Data Portability

Opt-Out
- Disable push notifications through app or device settings.
- Revoke camera permissions through device settings (may limit functionality).
7. Data Retention
- Active Accounts: Your data is retained as long as your account is active and you continue to use the app.
- Inactive Accounts: If you don't use the app for an extended period, we may archive or delete your account after notifying you.
- Deleted Accounts: Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. Some aggregate, anonymized data may be retained for analytical purposes.
- Legal Requirements: We may retain certain data if required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., resolving disputes).
8. Children's Privacy
The Jagrati app is designed for use by students (in future) and volunteers of all ages. If you are under 18, please ensure you have parental consent before using the app. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.
Parents/guardians can review their child's information and request deletion by contacting us.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we will:

- Notify you through the app or via email.
